Full store renovation in Donostia, 70m2
The most familiar fishmonger in the entire Gros neighbourhood in Donostia, which generation after generation has witnessed the change in the city, now is the time to renovate its space.
The first thing that will focus our intervention will be the absolute change of all its already obsolete facilities; plumbing, sanitation, electricity, lighting… The main objective of this reform, in addition to implying an aesthetic change in the space, is to provide an improvement in the way of working and for the new facilities to facilitate day-to-day work in a business as demanding as a fishmonger is.
It is a simple and effective interior design intervention, which in turn does not go unnoticed. We chose a wall tile in a textured graphite tone, with handmade pieces with irregular edges. We leave a free space on the upper perimeter of the walls, which breathes and provides volume.
We designed the rear front of the counter as a tribute to the women who have always been an indispensable key to work at sea. From one end in sepia tone, some hands weave the nets that are folded by the breaks in the rear-counter walls. When we reach the opposite extreme, it works as a background for the family boat models that we frontally illuminate so that they have the prominence they deserve due to their meaning.
In this business reform project, we tell a whole story that goes beyond being a mere decoration. This is a space that has a meaning, a tradition, and a family legacy, and we reflect it with our design.
