Contemporary and original
Full home renovation in Donostia-San Sebastián, 50 sqm
This home is a reflection in terms of architecture, design and interior design. Our main idea is to keep history alive, respect what is currently in place, take care of the original architecture and its materials.
We make spaces versatile, in order for them to become dynamic places with fluid motion by removing physical barriers that hinder the look and movement through the spatial connection of the volume. The key is in controlling the natural light to articulate the spaces. The light is filtered and sieved through the mobile opal polycarbonate locally-sourced and handcrafted pine-framed partition-door.
The design values include the ecological, sustainable, recyclable and reusable materials such as linoleum flooring, with cocoa husk, PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification) Forest Certified local birch, natural rattan, flax, solvent-free paints, the restoring of 100-year-old hydraulic floor tiles as well as the original woodwork of the windows dating back to the beginning of the 20th century.
This contemporary-style house located in the so-called San Sebastián romantic area, just a few metres from the Buen Pastor cathedral, is a combination of Nordic and Japanese style, has become a habitat of where light and the void are balanced.
