Unique and one of a kind
Villa Joly. A holiday dwelling in Biarritz, 88 m²
We have refurbished the inside a 19th-century Villa, located a few meters from the Grande Plage in the elegant city of Biarritz.
We began the design echoing classical French and maritime style. The original oak wood bedroom flooring has remained intact following several recovery treatments. In contrast, we opted for a white-stained oak with the accentuation of the side seams in a handcrafted work. This new flooring has been placed lengthways across the lounge floor that follows the direction of the natural light to open up to the outside at its façade designed to echo the deck of a boat.
The 3.5 metre high ceilings have been restored with their original mouldings and plaster. The bottom of the partitions is coated with a handcrafted clear-coloured lacquer panelling that contrasts with the development of the different areas of the house in its upper section. Elegant colours and textures that run through the house, composed of silky panelled, handcrafted wall paper, coatings with distressed mirrors, artisan tiles, brass finishes, lacquered wooden mouldings, lamps, wall lamps and hardware sourced from antique shops.
Every corner stimulates the senses. Following a single design criterion, each space is bathed in colour, textures and reflections. Colours change from one room to another, that follows the same unifying thread, a common tale. A holiday dwelling for a couple with exquisite taste, Laura and Javier.
